The Sky's The Limit Orrery is the only true-scale and true-position (TSP) model of the solar system as far as we know. However we encourage others to make large outdoor orrey's also. These pages are intended to show how the Sky's The Limit Orrery works and how it was designed and built. Let us know if you build your own orrery and if you need help with the design.
At our Orrery scale of 20 billion to one, we have determined the distance and lateral direction to Alpha Centauri, the closest large star to us.
Our Alpha Centauri coordinates place the star (relative to our Sun in Twentynine Palms), a few hundred miles west of Mexico City, near to Colima, Mexico.
